Geely University of China is a full-time private undergraduate university approved by the Ministry of Education, founded in Beijing in 1999 by Geely Holdings Group (a Fortune 500 company), formerly known as Beijing Geely University. In 2014, it was promoted to an undergraduate university with the approval of the Ministry of Education and renamed Beijing Geely University. On March 30, 2020, the Ministry of Education approved the overall relocation of Beijing Geely University to Chengdu and its renaming to Geely University of China.

       Geely University of China is located in the West-South opening gateway of China and new engine of economic development - Longquan Lakeside of Chengdu Eastern New Area, with 2,000 mu of land for schooling and a total planned construction area of 1.2 million square meters. Geely University of China has adopted artificial intelligence, big data, cloud computing, Internet of Things, etc. in building an ecological, humanistic, international, intelligent and beautiful campus in compliance with the goal of building a century-old university. In doing so, the University has been upholding the harmonious coexistence of human beings, architecture and nature as well as pursuing "Four Major Goals" for a university enabling Intelligent Manufacturing in China, balanced comprehensive layout, sharing and interconnection, and favorable landscape.

       Geely University of China is digital-oriented, with coordinated development of multiple disciplines such as economics, management, education, literature, law, art, and science, and now has forty undergraduate programs. Eleven secondary schools have been established, namely, School of Automotive Engineering, School of Intelligent Technology, School of Business, Saxo Fintech School, School of Education, School of Foreign Languages and Cultures, School of Digital Media and Performance, School of Electronic and Information Engineering,School of Art and Design, School of Sports and Health, School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, as well as Liberal Arts School, School of Marxism, School of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, School  of Modern Industry and School of International Education. Geely University of China has been optimizing its discipline layout with its merits in engineering and building professional communities around automotive research, industry, sales and service based on the "Four Modernization" of automobile industry (electrification, networking, intelligence and sharing.) along with its industry chain. Economics, management and art are the characteristic disciplines of the University: building national and provincial first-class disciplines and professional communities around the intelligent manufacturing of advanced automobiles and the construction of Chengdu-Chongqing Economic Circle.

       Based on Geely Holding Group's advantages in R&D, production, products and human resources, Geely University of China has transformed into the University's academic, educational, research and teaching resources. With the support of Geely Holding Group, a Fortune 500 company with global vision, the University has built a 100-million high-tech industrial experimental training room, and added 20 million experimental instruments and equipment every year. Deep industry-education integration with well-known international and domestic enterprises and school-enterprise cooperation will provide students with real multidimensional places for internship, training, practice and production and application. The University has provided first-class hardware and software facilities and a practical teaching platform to improve students' practical training and overall qualities. Geely University of China has 1 provincial experimental teaching demonstration center, 127 experimental training rooms, an engineering center of 17500 square meters, an innovative entrepreneurship center of 3,000 square meters, 181 intelligent classrooms and a 20-million "super computing center".
