  In accordance with the requirements of modern vocational education system construction and the concept of lifelong education, the college constructs a multi-form, multi-specification and multi-level educational structure, which integrates diploma education and vocational qualification certification, adult higher education and short-term training. It has set up the “National Vocational Skills Appraisal Institute”, the “National Vocational Skills Appraisal Station of Transportation Industry of Ministry of Transport”, the “Nantong Training Base of Education Management Information Center of Ministry of Education”, the “Nantong Training Base of China Maritime Service Center”, the “Jiangsu Waterway Skills Talents Education and Training Base”, the “Jiangsu Seafarers Training Center”, the “Jiangsu Province Veterans Personalized Training Base” and other training institutions (bases). The annual scale of vocational training reaches 26,000 people. The total number of adult education students is about 4,000. It provides a variety of pathways for academic advancement such as upgrading from high school to college, from college to bachelor’s degree, and diploma to bachelor’s degree for working professionals and full-time students.

  The college actively engages in international exchange activities and extensively promotes Sino-foreign cooperative education programs. It actively explores innovative paths education internationalization. It is a member institution of the Global Maritime Education and Training Federation, offering education for international students in 6 majors. Under the “Belt and Road” Initiative, the college endeavors to serve companies in their internationalization efforts and has jointly built the cross-border college-enterprise community entity of “Sino-Singapore (Nantong) International Maritime Training Center”. It has established overseas “Luban Workshops” in Myanmar, Cambodia and other countries, and has established good inter-instituional cooperation and exchange relationships with over 30 universities in more than 20 countries and regions including the United States, Canada, Germany, the United Kingdom, Singapore, India, Malaysia and Australia.

  The college actively implements talent training models such as the “dual-track and four-stage” model, the “three-tier and six-stage integration of school and industry” model, and the “alternating between theory and practice” model. It deepens the cooperation between college and enterprises, and integrates industry and education to cultivate high-quality technical and skilled talents. The college actively serves local socio-economic development. It is the experimental college of the national 1+X certificate system, and the employment rate of its graduates has consistently remained above 98%. With high employment quality and high employment rate in related fields, the college has been awarded the title of the Advanced Collective of Graduates’ Employment in Jiangsu Province for four consecutive times, and has been recognized as one of the Top 50 Colleges in the country for examplary experience in graduates’ employment work. In the past five years, students from this college have won more than 60 first prizes in various national and provincial competitions. The college won the Overall Champion of the National College Group in the 5th Chinese Sailor Skills Competition in 2019, the Gold Medal in the National Finals of the 7th China International “Internet Plus” College Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition in 2021, the Gold Medal in the National Finals of the 8th China International “Internet Plus” Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition for College Students in 2022, the First Prize in the Ship Main Engine and Shafting Installation Competition of the Higher Vocational College Group in the National Vocational College Skills Competition, and the Gold Medal in the 13th “Challenge Cup” Chinese College Student Entrepreneurship Plan Competition. In terms of personnel training and innovation in 2023, the college has been in the forefront of the national marine vocational education.
